Technical preparations
The day begins with the simple pleasure of a steaming cup of coffee – a reminder that, like a truck or ship needing fuel, Stefan needs a boost to kick-start his day. It helps with making sure that everything is in order technically before the office hours start. This means opening access to various mailboxes and initiating the internal booking system. Our system is the nerve center of our daily operations, providing a clear picture of the sailings planned for the day and identifying issues that demand immediate attention. Issues often revolve around missing license plate numbers, customs documents requiring processing, and managing trucks on the waiting list, where securing a space or alternative solution is paramount. Resolving these matters becomes a top priority, setting the tone for the day.
A constant flow of bookings
As the morning unfolds, Stefan’s attention turns to the continuous influx of booking requests. These requests arrive via email, telephone, and the company website. The ideal scenario is a steady flow where requests are received, interpreted, and promptly processed. Confirmations are swiftly dispatched to customers, ensuring transparency and efficient communication throughout the booking process. To handle the different tasks and the huge load of information, Stefan prefers to have two or three screens in front of him to have a good overview of the different systems and processes. Although much is processed digitally, it is always nice to have telephone contact with our customers where a friendly conversation often lights up an otherwise formal business call.
Embracing the unpredictable
Every workday at Ferry Goods comes with its own set of unique challenges. Whether it's bad weather, a broken truck, a defective ship, a strike, or just recently even a landslide blocking the road between Gothenburg and Oslo. Whatever it may be, here it comes to a quick response, experience, and creativity. While no one hopes for these unfortunate incidents, we are always happy when the problem can be resolved, and the customer is served with a satisfying solution.
"I have to say that with FerryGoods there is never a dull day. My favorite working day ends when all customers are served satisfactorily and when challenges that may have arisen are resolved," says Stefan. At FerryGoods our whole team can only agree with this!
